Recording the audiobook for "Useful Not True", I video'd it too, then lovingly (hand-craftedly) subtitled the videos, which altogether communicates the message of the book better than plain text. I'll post all here now. Watch and see if it hits.

Fight Club: I liked it the first time years ago, but watching a second time when you already know the end reveal? Elevates it from good to great. So many brilliant details in the screenplay. What else in life is better the second time?

FWIW he wasn’t joking. Living in the city, you don’t notice the moon so much. Living in the country, full-vs-new moon makes a HUGE difference, since we need to go outside at night. We notice it more and therefore feels like there are “way more” full moons than before.

… works great with regions, too. Replace {COUNTRY} with “the Balkans” or “the GCC”. Funny but educational.

Your outside doesn’t need to match your inside. You can feel terrified inside, but just pretend to be brave for one minute. By doing that, you were actually brave. You might be a total introvert, but need to attend an event, so you act social for one hour...

When I got my first guitar, the nice man at the shop put on new strings and tuned it. A week later, I brought it back to the shop because it sounded terrible. He told me it was just out of tune. I said, “But you tuned it already!” He explained...

Good book on cultural psychology: Tribal. Great insights and examples of how change happens on the personal, cultural, and institutional level. My notes at sive.rs/book/Tribal
