"Just read the documentation!" Ah yes, the classic response when a junior dev asks for help. Because we all know the best way to learn complex technical concepts is to wade through 47 pages of arcane references written by... the same experts with blind spots. There's a reason my programs have structured progression paths. Documentation is a reference, not a teacher.

Too many devs think networking to get a job means they need to make a PowerPoint presentation and sell folks on it. Nooooo! I've literally gotten jobs because the conversation started with someone at a meetup and we geeked out over a technology. Don't over complicate this.

Want to know why most technical education content sucks? It's called the "expert blind spot", and it's EVERYWHERE. Senior engineers: "Just use dependency injection!" Junior devs: "What's a dependency? Why are we injecting things??" After years of experience, experts forget what it's like to be a beginner. Everything seems "obvious" when you've done it 1000 times. That's why I make subject matter experts do a "beginner's mind" exercise before they touch any training content. If you want to know why my programs are so good, it starts here.

The comments hurt my soul. Modern databases like Postgres support both paradigms - use tables where you need structure, documents where you need flexibility. Pick the right tool for each data pattern, not just one approach for everything.

Simple: I don’t. I simply use Postgres.

The veterans I've taught are some of the most disciplined and dedicated learners I've ever worked with. But we need to do better at providing clear paths from service into high-paying technical careers. To all who have served: thank you! And to companies looking for exceptional talent - you're missing out if you're not building programs specifically for veterans.

"I'll learn when I feel motivated!" Narrator: They did not, in fact, learn when they felt motivated. Build habits, not hopes. Schedule your learning like you schedule eating. Your future self will thank you. Want more tips? Check our free learning course at skillfoundry.io

Pro tip: Create a separate user account on your computer just for coding. No games. No distractions. Just you and your IDE living your best life. Because let's be honest, that "quick gaming break" never stays quick. #coding #programmerlife
