Great work by your #SLMPD officers Saturday night as they proactively addressed a ‘teen takeover’ gathering in the Downtown and Downtown West areas.
Officers and undercover detectives worked to disperse crowds, enforce curfew and trespassing laws, and connect juveniles with their parents or guardians. Around a dozen teens were detained and three were taken into custody for resisting arrest. The youngest was 13, who was involved in a fight. Parents were called to pick up their children. Many of the juveniles told officers they had been dropped off by parents or guardians earlier in the evening. In one case, a parent was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Keeping our community safe is a shared responsibility. We encourage parents and guardians to know where their children are and help ensure they make responsible choices. By intervening early, our officers helped connect teens with their parents or guardians while helping ensure a safe and welcoming downtown for everyone. #STL
