Haven't seen those guys for years! Graham was the lead in construction eng. for the TallWood building (@timberlabinc did the fab and @swinerton constructed it). Ari and Dave are collaborators I happened to run into in the workshop. Always nice to hangout with friends👍

Why visiting the south? I took part in Clemson's wood educator workshop to help faculty members who are interested in teaching wood in the US. Supported by @LumberBoard @wudclemson Workshop also included tours to Clemson's experimental forest and structures lab🤩

Finally visited USS Constitution myself in Boston during Structures Congress. It is the only wood battle ship still afloat and in service around the world😉

Do you know U.S. Navy has a 200 year old wood battleship that is still in service? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Co… At @fsWoodLab , I was able to hold a real wood sample (live oak) from the hull of USS Constitution (and copper dowel) sent to FPL for testing during the 1995 restoration!

Want to see something stupid? I was preparing my timber design notes and want to edit a picture using MS Paint. The automatic AI button keep popping up when I select an area, AND covered up the selected area! I cannot do a thing!🥲 How about a Paint program that actually works?

The plot thickens😱 Some of these problems give me an "Idiocracy" vibe... We are really living in the future I guess🥹
UCSD’s “Math 2” course teaches grade-school math (grades 1–8) to freshmen. From page 49 of the university’s own report: • 25% of students got 7 2 = ___ 6 wrong • 61% of students, a large majority, couldn’t round 374,518 to the nearest hundred • 37% of students couldn't subtract fractions UCSD is ranked as the nation's 5th best public university. Universities are cooked.
