My annoying commie take is that “late stage capitalism” is meaningless theory slop that doesn’t actually describe a qualitatively new stage of capitalism and tries to replace the use of “monopoly-capitalism” because the latter has actual explanatory power.

Mexico had TWO decolonial revolutions- one against spain and another against comprador elites and feudal remnants.
Mexico’s history is complex and to apply what’s happening in the U.S. to Mexico is just un-dialectical and lazy.

"Historical progress" is a term that is purposefully ambiguous and can be twisted to justify or support any number of things, but it's pretty clear to me that Mexican Independence was far more liberatory for the people who lived there than American Independence was for its people
