Saints, when discussing tense matters with fellow Christ-followers, it can be helpful to (1) use biblical language & paradigms, avoiding secular combat rhetoric & (2) engage as a family member seeking to persuade, rather than a lobbyist or activist seeking to maneuver an opponent

“That is why I made haste to flee … for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful...” (Jonah4:2) Saints, we must rejoice in God’s character, as revealed in scripture, or we can find ourselves resenting God’s ways - especially His grace towards folks we “other” or dislike.

It’s an interesting visual to watch engaged debate among good battle-for-the-Bible folk regarding ecclesiology #SBC26 then watch them file out when it’s time to sing and hear the president’s sermon (Ephesians4) or the convention sermon (Exodus4) 🤷🏽‍♂️ Make preaching great again!

I enjoy voting for Baptists willing to serve as president, our #SBC26 CP allocation budget, & ecclesiological clarifications … but the “juice” of cooperating together is the joy of sending missionaries in an Acts1:8 way Missionaries have been the “thing” since 1814 in the U.S.
Eight @ncbaptist missionaries were among the 63 new workers appointed during today’s @IMB_SBC Sending Celebration with most going to places around the world that cannot be named.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time … a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 7) Saints, it’s sad when some of don’t have “seasons” - especially if one’s multi-decade season is always grumbling complainer 🙏🏾

As we head to #SBC26, as always, thankful for our cooperative capacity through our mission boards/confessional fidelity/seminaries. As I get older, I’m thankful for pastors <40 who are in the “season” of seeking to grow churches and send missionaries; with Christian joy!

sobering to listen to some folks in their 30s/40s talk about the relational, familial, emotional, spiritual, and happiness costs of careerism, coveting, and (some) feminism in the West. In the West/East cultural values have consequences. I hope teens/young adults are listening.

in my early 20s I didn’t always get my late-pastor’s mood about Christianity in the U.S. But I’ve understood over the decades For example, the indifference towards, or the tolerance of, or the affirmation of Jeroboam’s “alternatives” (in some circles) is interesting to observe🤷🏽‍♂️

In a society of chameleons and expedient compromisers, I’m very thankful to have friends, colleagues, and acquaintances, who have been stable in their “constitution” for decades; especially those who are my brothers/sisters-in-Christ The young-me didn’t know that would be a gift

Even when it’s necessary to assert clarifying distinctives, it’s always helpful to remind ourselves and others of the positive Acts1:8 missiological motivation and thrust of our efforts. Thankful to have been in unified places over my decades: TN, KY, MD/DE, & FL #MainThing
Replying to @KentuckyBaptist
@KentuckyBaptist have given many things to the broader SBC - one being helpful, needed, and unifying "tent pegs" for Ephesians4:3 unity - biblical authority - Baptist Faith & Message - Great Commission zeal ... - ... financially fueled by Cooperative Program #theCommonwealth

Grateful for the generosity of South Carolina Baptists and the leadership of Executive Director Tony Wolfe in underwriting the renovation of @imb_sbc missionary housing at our training center. So blessed to see state convention partners caring for Southern Baptists’ missionaries

There is no immunity. I guess everyone has a bad @Delta day at some point 🤷🏽‍♂️✈️ At the texts let you regulate your emotions 🤣🤣🤷🏽‍♂️ But 12 texts makes one want to use some non-Baptist words. 🤐

Young people just don’t know 🤷🏽‍♂️ there were ambulances at Michael Jackson concerts (globally) 🌏 folk would faint and pass out when he took the stage 🤯 doubt there’s a contemporary comparison.

Music is amazing - Black, White, Asian, Latin, old, young, condo millionaires, the homeless, the locals, the tourists - they all know the choreography for My Girl! 🕺🏽💃🏽 Temptations are Americana👏🏾 With divisions in our nation, concerts always paint an interesting picture to me

Saints, you’re not surprised. Scripture is clear about the temptations of idolatry, syncretism, inclusivism, doubt, & apostasy. The history of those claiming Christianity provides many illustrations of yielding to temptation. Be Luke9:23 Resist hypocrisy Lukewarm sucks (Rev3:16)

#OneYearBible “You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow …” Deuteronomy 16:19-20

I’m petty. 😀 I was at church (Good Friday), but feel good that South Carolina won tonight. My daughter went to Louisville. Their women have been national runner-ups twice (2009, 2013); both times losing to … UConn 🏀🏀 Louisville also made Final Four in ‘18 and ‘22. 🏀🏀

I’m a low-church Protestant. I’m on college campuses regularly and get to talk to young people. Some are curious about Constantinople and Rome, but many are simply drifting away from a-theological, ahistorical, church growth pragmatism, that they perceive lacks transcendence.
No Christian tradition - Orthodox/Catholic/Protestant - is void of false conversions/nominalism. It seems like the saints could have some humility when other “members” of the 1Cor12 “Body” report of positive happenings in their context 🤷🏽‍♂️ “different manifestations, same Spirit”

We run the risk of sentimentalism if we speak of Jesus' death on the cross as nothing more than an act of sacrificial love. It is that, but more. It has to be appreciated in the context of what the whole Bible teaches about reconciliation with a holy God after the Fall, the.necessity of substitutionary atonement, the death of death, and the need for imputed righteousness to stand before God. It's all in there... and more. Praise be to God for His marvelous grace.
