it’s hard not to see that the anime cut some of the gender non conforming sides of qifrey in favor of extending and modifying scenes that make him appear more imposing. i don’t like that they’ve leaned more into this traditionally masculine power fantasy common in anime

it’s less a direct decision and more a series of decisions that add up and how misogyny etc touches everything. “masculinity” given care and “femininity” lost because it doesn’t matter as much.
