cn death
haven't slept all night and have to be at a funeral in four hrs, then teach the deceased's course, where the assigned readings centre death and mourning, and like I've been having tough days but this is going to be a Tough Dayâ„¢

World's oldest animal depictions found in Borneo cave. Shows 40,000-year-old red silhouette of cow-like animal, hand stencils. Suggests ancient humans in Asia developed art ability earlier than in Europe. (Original picture on left; enhanced image on right) cbc.ca/1.4894184
Men and women are treated differently. For example - our male Prime Minister is applauded for being ‘real’ skulling a beer for the cameras. My sister is shamed for attending a Cup function and for sitting down when her feet got sore. DOUBLE STANDARDS MUCH?
Geez @DailyMailAU is scum. They put a photo of my sister in a piece about drunk people at Melbourne Cup because *shock horror* she sat down waiting for a cab after standing in heels for 7 hours. Not drunk. Just tired. Shaming a woman for sitting down 🙄

For the people that care: Dolezal stole the term transracial & bent it to fit her. The term was coined in the 1960s by BLACK & INDIGENOUS adoptees who experienced erasure from being adopted by white people who didn't care about their adopted kids' heritage & culture.
For the first time in history, Native American women will be represented in US Congress. Congratulations to both of you, Debra Haaland and Sharice Davids!
just read a call for papers for a conference on the topic "what can thinking about disability teach us about philosophy?" that included Literally Zero accessibility information or notes on accommodation and I have rarely felt so disinclined to apply for something so up my alley
When organizers of a conference on disability don't have it in mind to mention basic accessibility work anywhere…
well that signals something about the likely audience and their willingness to centre disability and disabled folks, rather than treat us as mere objects of inquiry
(and the fact that disabled people appear somewhere on the schedule as presenters doesn't by itself demonstrate disability centred organizing and access work)
if you're a nondisabled driver who complains about people using wheelchairs or other mobility aids on the road
there's a 97% chance you park like this
