This is how skin cancer start, meet Samasa Moyo 26, today she approached us very worried about changes of her skin due to lack of sncreen and excessive heat. She is a young mother who is largely working outdoors in the rural areas of Esigodini. The sad part is the limited supply of suncreen we had finished last week. At our offices sometimes you go home heavy hearted after sieng felow brothers and sisters who would have travelled from as far as Masendu in Plunmtree or Nkayi in search of the life saving lotion💔.
Skin cancer can only be prevented by access and regular usage of sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, reduction of unprotected exposure to the UV Sunrays and regular sreening to catch the cancers early.
Samasa has survived 3 skin surgeries in the past 3 years alone and lm sad to see the deadly disease is coming back again. I have advised her to come back tommorow so that we can go to Mpilo Hospital for further examination. She will need our support Zimbabwe through this dreaded journey.
My call to action is, nommater where you are in Zimbabwe if you have the means please assist persons with albinism with sunscreen, one bottle will go a long way to save lives. Reach out to me on 0783098732 so that l get the beneficiaries to you.
May God give us strength and resources to continue the fight 🙏
