I think I still haven’t entirely processed that the finale happened and there is no escape from it. it’s not the cliffhanger of s2 that almost tore my soul apart but that I knew was temporary. this isn’t. this is staying for the rest of my life. what a nightmare

humans of s2 literally said: ā€šwe are not a game, we are real peopleā€˜ and humans of the finale didn’t get a say in anything, the fate of their universe was decided entirely by ineffable beings and system from which they fought to be independent since the book itself

One fact that doesn't sit well with me it's that good omens went from being a satirical comedy on Christianity to ending with damn Christian martyr #goodomens3

I have been in the fandom for 20 years. The South Downs cottage has always been a symbol for A and C's happy future together, it became a lore, a certainty of a happy ending. I will never forgive #GO3 for betraying this idea in such a cruel way.
I think what a lot of ā€œnewerā€ fans don’t understand is, in every single mention of the south downs cottage story ending, the names aziraphale and crowley were used. never with any hint of them retiring or being human or an au. it was always meant to be them. for 20 years. explain

I hope one day we learn the truth about the original idea, about the scripts, about how the story was supposed to end. I hope this day will come and it will heal those who recognised the malice in what we’ve got served as twisted revenge and what a whole crew tried to salvage

forever grateful to the crew for really trying to do everything in their power to make the story kinder and more hopeful, through directing decisions, acting choices, animating credits, everything. the material should’ve been different

one month since something irreparably broke in me and that I will still somehow repair because love prevails all and you don’t even have to erase an entire universe for it

I also find it very interesting that there was not one concept art of ā€˜asa and anthony’ except the chairs one where they appear to be aged crowley and aziraphale rather than a ā€˜new human version’ of them

update on this, working my shift with actual honest to goddess physical chest pain tis great
started to feel agonising pain again because of how truly miserable the story ended for crowley and aziraphale. no chance to talk, to communicate, to reconcile, to make amends. nothing. only loneliness, suffering, sacrifice

I was so mad about how he butchered the original idea of free will and stripped humanity of their agency that ineffable’s pain got numbed for a second there. here it is again. so much malice and evil in this story-telling, it’s so so saddening

Good Omens finale showed that terrible people who happen to be great story-tellers, once deprived of their readers’ support, show that they are, in fact, terrible people through their story telling, harming their readers
The Neil Gaiman example later in this thread is absolutely evergreen because he's such a perfect case study for "terrible people can make very good and very progressive, empathetic pieces of art". The sooner we stop conflating someone's morality with their work the better.

experiencing good omens 3 at the same time with a friendship break up because your best friend in the whole wide world just suddenly stopped talking to you without any warning is certainly an experience 🫠
