Either make them properly or don't
James Cameron says he wants to make the next 2 ‘AVATAR’ films in “half the time for two-thirds of the cost.” “We’re going to be looking at some new technologies to try to do them more efficiently. Because they’re hideously expensive and take a long time.“ (Source: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…)

the biggest problem i've noticed is that some of this footage genuinely looks like log footage
The new trailer for the live-action ‘MOANA’ remake has been released. In theaters on July 10.

You can now enable Claude to use your computer to complete tasks. It opens your apps, navigates your browser, fills in spreadsheets—anything you'd do sitting at your desk. Research preview in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, macOS only.

Togi explains why no one worries about lending him money “The interest on a Togi loan is insane. Steve sent me $30,000 and I sent him $100,000 back” “Nobody has ever given me a hard time because I’ve never not paid them back. I owed some of my employees like $50,000 a few months ago and I started selling watches to pay them” “I would rather sell all my stuff than not pay somebody back”

What a waste of 300 bucks 😂
Nintendo took 40 years to give us a Legend of Zelda movie. I made this in 5 days on a $300 budget. It looks like a $300M blockbuster. Let me show you how I made this in 5 simple steps inside of Freepik: 🧵

This is one of the saddest things that's happened in switzerland. 40 people aged 16-25 have passed away brutally burning to death in this bar. 115 people (so far) badly injured. People have lost brothers, sisters, daughters and sons. My heart goes out to all the families
🚨🇨🇭🔥 Des personnes prises au piège par les flammes dans le bar de Crans-Montana tentent désespérément de s’échapper par la seule issue, qui est bloquée. (témoins)

James Cameron says he may explore new 'ethical' generative-AI tech to make more 'Avatar' films faster — but he will never replace actors and artists "I don't wanna spend another [8] years on two more Avatar films in my life at the age of 71, so I wanna figure out how to do them faster, which will make it cheaper" "Now, does generative AI play a role in that? It may ... as long as we stay within the ethical boundaries of never replacing the actors, never replacing the artists ... never replacing me as a director, or the writers" "That's a bit of a tall order right now because the generative AI tools are not really designed to integrate into the conventional VFX workflows, we would have to create them" "The big companies that are pushing all this stuff are just interested in business to business models ... medical diagnosis ... fun stuff to do you can share with your pals ... things like that. They're not professional tools for entertainment. We would have to create that" (via Q with Tom Power)

After 13 years I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends last night, he had such good character, he was as stubborn as it gets and always got us to laugh. Putting him down was really hard but required since he was suffering. Appreciate every moment, any could be the last.

Creative fields are the only places where people expect elite performers to pretend they don’t know they’re elite. Great athletes can feel like they’re the best and it’s all good. But society wants top of their field creatives to do the whole “idk I’m ok I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️ , probably just got lucky” brand posturing. It’s fake modesty so that people like you more. Newsflash tho, every creative you’ve studied privately thinks they are great cuz they HAVE to. Conviction is the fuel. The audience’s discomfort says more about their relationship to ambition and confidence than about the claim itself.
Timothée Chalamet says he’s given “top-of-the-line performances” these “last seven or eight years” “I don’t want people to take it for granted. I don’t want to take it for granted. This is really some top-level shit” tinyurl.com/4x968j5v

Personally I felt the HFR to feel very weird when watching way of water in 3D
James Cameron tells us that about 40% of ‘AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH’ is in high frame rate. “High frame rate shouldn’t be thought of as a format. 3D is a format. 70mm is a format. High frame rate is a way of improving 3D. So, it’s an authoring tool.”

Everyone is hating on this for some reason, my prediction is that once the movie is out and people watch it everyone will start to worship it and say “I always believed in the vision”
Christopher Nolan explains how he approached the mythological aspect of THE ODYSSEY: “One of the things I needed to crack was how to approach mythological elements in a sort of real-world way. The big breakthrough creatively in thinking about the gods was that everything that is now explained by science was once supernatural. Lightning, thunder, earthquakes, volcanoes... people are literally seeing gods everywhere; not even the evidence of gods, they're seeing the actions of gods. I don't want to say too much about it beyond indicating that yes, the evidence of the supernatural is all around these people. It's very much part of their lives. And I think it's quite a lot of fun to tap into that.” (via @empiremagazine)
