Xi Jinping took charge of China in 2013. Modi of India in 2014. Maybe instead of comparing Modi with Nehru ji, it'll be a more fruitful exercise to compare his performance with that of Xi Jinping. On AI On R&D On STEM On Exports On Employment On Manufacturing On Public nutrition On Public education On Mass prosperity ... Maybe that'll help all of us much more in setting our national goals better.

Time spent in office is hardly a measure of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s greatness. His greatness is in institutions he created & ensured that they survive & thrive indefinitely, that is his unmatchable Greatness. Modi may tom tom about 12 years in office. His one spectacular achievement is ensuing century of the Rupee against US$. #Modi_Hai_Toh_Mumkin_Hai

Drop everything and listen in to 9.45 minutes of Leader of Opposition @RahulGandhi ji’s speech delivered at the INDIA bloc meeting on June 8th “The Congress Party is a resistance movement protecting the idea that all Indians are equal.   If political parties can’t function, what functions? Resistance functions. Resistance works. Wherever we resist, it works. I have seen it with my own eyes. I have walked 4,000 kilometres across this country - resistance works. You don't need political architecture. You don't need the bureaucracy. You don't need the intelligence agencies. You need the act of resistance — meaning: I will resist. I will not allow injustice. Full stop, the end. It is a spirit. It is not an organisation. It is a way of thinking - that is where we have to go.”

Radia Tapes severely damaged the credibility of senior journalists like Barkha Dutt & Vir Sanghvi. But Navika Kumar too was allegedly linked to this lobbying scam, yet escaped scrutiny. This despite she wasn’t a major face then. Who shielded her? Any idea? 🙂 Listen to this 🎧

What a sham
Modi ji said that foreign trips should not be undertaken so that dollars can be saved. On the other hand, a Union Minister is taking 75 judges and senior lawyers on a six-day trip to London. The Chief Justice, who likened the youth to cockroaches, was also with them.

Well said ma'am
𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿? On May 27, the anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru’s passing, I found myself wondering what India’s first Prime Minister would make of the world today. Imagine Nehru appearing unexpectedly at the dinner table. He would surely marvel at India’s transformation: a major economy, a nuclear and space power, a digital innovator, and an increasingly influential voice on the world stage. But after listening patiently to our account of India’s rise, he might ask a simple question: “During the ongoing Iran crisis, where exactly is India?” This question is worthy of thought. The conflict is not some distant regional war. It touches directly upon India’s interests: energy security, shipping through Hormuz, inflation, supply chains, connectivity through Iran, and the welfare of millions of Indians in the Gulf. Yet India has appeared more observer than participant in the diplomatic conversation surrounding the crisis. This is not a call for reckless activism or nostalgia for another era. The world of 2026 is vastly more complex than the world Nehru inhabited. Strategic autonomy requires prudence and restraint. But there is a difference between restraint and reticence. Nehru understood something that remains relevant today: influence derives not only from power, but also from presence. India of the 1950s possessed far less economic and military power than India does today. Yet it sought to shape international conversations on Korea, Suez, Indochina and Congo. It did not always determine outcomes. But it was rarely absent. The Iran crisis also reveals another reality. We often speak of a “multipolar world”, but what we increasingly see is a world of intermediaries. Countries such as Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and others have acquired diplomatic relevance because they possess channels of communication that others lack. Influence flows not merely from military strength, but from connectivity. This is where India should excel. We engage the United States and Europe, maintain ties with Russia, have deep interests in West Asia, participate in BRICS and the Quad, and retain credibility across much of the Global South. Strategic autonomy should not become strategic silence. The challenge before India is not whether it should mediate every conflict. It is whether a country of India’s scale and aspirations can afford to be absent from conversations that directly affect its interests. Nehru would not have asked us to return to the diplomacy of the 1950s. But as he leaves the dinner. he might ask whether a stronger India has become too cautious about using its voice. Today we possess unprecedented weight. The question is whether we’re prepared to exercise an equally confident voice. The future will not be shaped by great powers alone. It will also be shaped by those capable of connecting worlds that no longer trust one another. We have the power to be one of those. Good night, Mr. Nehru. #India #Nehru #Iran #Diplomacy #ForeignPolicy #StrategicAutonomy #GlobalSouth #WestAsia #Geopolitics #InternationalRelations

I visited the southernmost tip of India. I stood at Indira Point. I walked under trees that have stood for centuries. I dove into coral reefs among the most vibrant on earth. And I sat with the people who live there. Tribal communities, whose land is being taken away by violating the Forest Rights Act. Settlers, many of them former soldiers, placed on these islands by the Indian government, who aren’t getting fair compensation. The Modi government and BJP tells you Great Nicobar Project is about defence. It is not. Expand INS Baaz - we will back the government fully. The Navy has been asking for expansion for five years - it has been ignored. They tell you it is about a transhipment port. It is not. India is already building one in Kerala, which is on the mainland. What it actually is: 1.5 crore trees felled. Coral reefs erased from official maps. Soldiers and tribals displaced - so one businessman can build hotels and casinos on India’s most irreplaceable ecological land. Every young Indian I have spoken to understands this. You know that no amount of profit is worth destroying what can never be recovered. I stand for ecologically balanced development. These islands can be the most extraordinary sustainable destination the world has ever seen. That is the India worth fighting for. #GreenOverGreed #NicobarMatters #WorldEnvironmentDay
