The political will is in Cork for a safe injection centre โ or, more likely now, a multi-purpose third space for people experiencing addiction and homelessness.
Unfortunately, we're tied to waiting on the outcomes in Dublin, and maybe legislative changes too, to meet needs here.
Finally: Dublin has a supervised injection centre.
These centres are proven reduce dumped needles, cut public injecting, and massively reduce the risk to people in addiction.
It's long overdue - and our city and wider country will need more.
