For decades, the @splcenter has been fighting to protect all of us from violent extremists. From fighting the KKK and desegregation in the South to defending every citizens’ voting rights - they have stood up to violence and hate.

The Trump Administration has attacked SPLC with a baseless and fraudulent indictment. In going after the SPLC, Trump is going after the civil rights and physical safety of communities across America targeted by racism, bigotry, and hate crimes.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has always used social media, including X (formerly Twitter) as a tool to amplify our mission: fighting hate, seeking justice, and promoting equity. Recently, we’ve witnessed a troubling rise in hate speech and disinformation, along with a decline in the enforcement of moderation policies on X. These shifts have resulted in a platform that is no longer conducive to a productive dialogue and disproportionately harms the very communities we are dedicated to protecting.   After careful reflection, we have made the decision to discontinue active posting and engagement on this platform since it no longer aligns with our core values. While our account will remain live to preserve access to past content, we are redirecting our energy to platforms that promote meaningful dialogue and prioritize the well-being of marginalized communities. We encourage you to stay connected with us through: 💻 Our website: splcenter.org/ 📱Other social platforms: bsky.app/profile/splcenter.o… instagram.com/splcenter/ linkedin.com/company/souther… facebook.com/SPLCenter We will continue to use the above platforms as a means to spread our message to fight hate and accomplish our core mission. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to build a more just and equitable society. — The Southern Poverty Law Center

Youth justice reform measures in the mid-1990s were primarily based on the since-discredited “superpredator” theory and other racist tropes. As a result, Georgia children were met with punishment instead of rehabilitation as the default. Georgia youth justice needs reform: bit.ly/3OCDj3K #OnlyYoungOnce

#OTD in 1956, a bomb exploded under civil rights leader Fred Shuttlesworth’s Birmingham home. He and his family survived. Undeterred by a KKK-linked officer’s warning to leave town, he led protest rides the next day. Courage in the face of terror. #TheMarchContinues

Jack Greenberg, a civil rights attorney who served as director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund from 1961 to 1984, was born #OTD in 1924. He played a pivotal role in historic cases, including Brown v. Board of Education, ending segregation in public schools, and Meredith v. Fair, which integrated the University of Mississippi in 1962. Today, we honor his legacy and thank him for fighting the good fight. #TheMarchContinues
