A great educator does more than teach content. They create safety, belief, and connection, the very conditions the brain needs to grow. Brain research shows that when children feel seen, supported, and encouraged, their brains are more open to learning, resilience, and confidence. Long after the lessons are forgotten, kids remember how a teacher made them feel and that feeling quietly shapes who they become.

Chronic absenteeism is a major challenge in schools and often leads to academic struggles for students. Yet, teachers are frequently held responsible for the outcomes. It’s time to acknowledge that schools and educators alone cannot be expected to solve all of the challenges our children face. Addressing these issues requires a broader, community-wide commitment.

Twitter scholars, esp. in education: Do you know anyone writing about/has written about U.S. higher education desegregation in the 1960s/1970s/1980s that focus on the use of African or Caribbean students to integrate? Please retweet this to your folks who do this work. Thanks.
