🎓As graduations come to a close, we remember the millions of futures that have been stolen. But we also celebrate and salute this generation that have been steadfast in their courage, morals and determination to use their platform (no matter how small) to lift the voices of the oppressed and the occupied. 1/3

Student voices DEMAND to be heard by saying no to genocide and holding the University of Edinburgh accountable for its complicity in ongoing genocides. How long is the @EdinburghUni going to keep disengaging under the pretence of engagement?
The math adds up. The will of the students is clear. No graduating from genocide. @EdinburghUni, your turn.

COME SEPTEMBER. ALL THE STUDENTS WILL REMEMBER. As demonstrated by todays rally, and our march to Old College, we remind the Edinburgh 7 - Peter Mathieson, Colm Harmon, Lee Hamil, Leigh Chalmers, Lucy Evans, Kim Graham and Catherine Martin- that we the students will remember their cowardly refusal to concede to our demands. We mark the days leading up to September as the moments when the student intifada galvanised and escalated to the halls of this colonial institution. #BalfourUniversity

‼️ EMERGENCY CALL‼️ PM Rishi Sunak is launching the Scottish Conservative manifesto at the Apex Hotel in Edinburgh's Grassmarket NOW. We need people to head there ASAP with Palestine flags to challenge his support for genocide!

Please read this very important tweet and information attached. These initiatives / endeavors pander to performative machinations. None of these should be '# a week', an EDI strategy, 'a metaphor' as Tuck and Yang refer to decolonisation or a tickbox.
It's World Refugee Week- a time to amplify refugee voices and examine our individual and community practices to ensure that we are doing what we can to support displaced people (although this should be a consistent focus not just a week!). ❗️However, the University of Edinburgh is using this as a token marketing strategy- plastering their social media with claims of refugee support whilst continuing to refuse to divest from their £57 million held in investments complicit in genocide (and deleting Instagram comments exposing them for this hypocrisy). ❗️Around 75% of Gaza's population have been displaced (UN, April 2024) and Israel continues to bomb refugee camps. Over 37,000 people have been killed in Palestine since October 2023. ❗️This university does not care about their ethical or humanitarian responsibilities, they only care about profit. - Via GeographersAgainstGenocide on Instagram

‼️ The Student Intifada continues. Fuck the court ‘decision’. Show up for divestment. Show up against the legacy of Balfour. Show up for Palestine.

University of Edinburgh students have blocked all entrances to Old College, which houses part of the university administration, asking for the university court to respect the democratic will of student council and academic senate and divest from Israel’s genocide in Gaza

Let's keep the pressure on! Well done comrades!
‼️Today’s picket of Old College has successfully made the administration concede to our demands! 1. To add the appendix on Amazon and Alphabet that was purposefully omitted by the working group when sent to the court back. 2. To allow our experts who were sabotaged in the process to reconstruct their marginalization by the committee process at court on Monday. This is huge progress, but we must mantain the pressure to ensure divestment takes place.

‼️ACTION REQUIRED‼️ Open letter to urge the university court to consider the expertise presented by staff regarding responsible investments - as of now, that is mostly being ignored. Sign and share before 1pm tomorrow! forms.gle/FsUPbLeMpdN4iikT7

Absolutely no accountability by @EdinburghUni for this repugnant, dehumanising behaviour. Apparently no one knows what's happened. All of this is continued violence. @EdinburghAlumni @EdAlumNY please take note. Pls demand an explanation, accountability and transparency.#Divestnow
#BalfourUniversity strikes again: The memorial set up to commemorate the thousands killed in Gaza has been taken down and binned publicly. Clearly, this institution holds nothing sacred. It is one of the most disrespectful acts of violence that @EdinburghUni has done (which is quite the achievement, considering their record!) The stances taken by this colonial institution are clear: Palestinian lives don't matter to them. They are free to dehumanize and disrespect them even in their deaths, so long as they aren’t held accountable.

The @EdinburghUni administration has yet to provide a response to the shameful takedown of the martyrs vigil, and campus security claim no responsibility. Perhaps the ghost of Balfour is to blame? Regardless, The Martyrs Vigil is back up. Visit Old College steps to pay respects to the thousands of Palestinians murdered by Israel. May their memory be a blessing, and a knife in the sides of the oppressors.

The martyrs in Gaza deserve to be honored and remembered. We have set up a memorial at the Old College next to the war memorial. Please come by during the day if you wish to show respect; a prayer, flowers, candles, or a somber moment of remembrance. We encourage you to contribute with more photos. Glory to the martyrs 🕯️
