"We were able to get into our first All-Star game and I think TheStack had a lot to do with it." -Brendan Donovan

Brendan Donovan has been using TheStack for over a year to build real, measurable bat speed gains. After his first program last year, he saw a 4 mph increase in bat speed on his way to his first All-Star Game. Good things happen when you trust the science & dedicate yourself to the craft. Donnie works hard, stays consistent, and we couldn’t be more proud to have him on board as an official Stack Athlete!

The next step is having players understand how to efficiently increase their bat speed. The science of speed matters. Good thing we know a guy… @SashoMacKenzie
The fact that the idea of “swinging the bat faster is better” is considered new age analytical thinking is insane. Gaining speed/power/force production has been beneficial for every athlete in every sport since the beginning of time. Pitchers who throw harder have higher ceilings, golfers who swing the club faster have higher ceilings, running backs who run faster have higher ceilings, basketball players who jump higher have higher ceilings etc. Does it mean that those who are bigger/faster/stronger will automatically be better? Of course not. Skill, mental makeup, competitive edge, preparation and a thousand other things all play a massive part in overall success, but the fact that being more physically explosive and producing more force gives you a greater chance for success has always and will always be true.

Brendan Donovan is having his best season yet. He’s locked in on a great mindset: “Warm up to hit — don’t hit to warm up.” - He trains movement patterns to gain speed without losing the swing that makes him elite

#Statcast Aging Curve for Swing Speed (updated with 2025 data) I also included quasi-best-fit line, which you can play around with as more data comes in. This line in vertex form (which is much much much easier to understand than off-putting quadratic): -.02*(Age - 25.5) 72

Pete Crow-Armstrong's average bat speed... 2024: 70.6 mph 2025: 74.5 mph 1 mph of added bat speed is ~6 feet of batted-ball distance. Batted balls w/ 74-75 mph bat speeds produced 134 more points of SLG than those 70-71 mph last year. 👀 @WatchMarquee Wheels up! 📈

You need to move the bat fast if you want to hit the ball hard. According to math, this is how fast you need to be able to move the bat to reach these exit velocity thresholds.
