I just watched Shelby Oaks because of all the discussion around YouTube filmmakers and that movie was straight up ASS. I checked how much time was left so many times. It was tedious as hell and completely void of novelty and authentic human emotion.

AN INSTANT FUCKING CLASSIC OH MY GOD I AM BLOWN AWAY. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HARROWING BRILLIANTLY DISTURBING DELIGHTFUL MASTERPIECE. SO DARK BUT SO MUCH FUN. I LAUGHED. I CRIED. I ATE. I GOT SET ON FIRE. I HAD SEVERALLLLL EPIPHANIES. THE ACTING WAS IMPECCABLE. THE STYLE, PACING, WRITING, EDITING, CAMERA WORK, SOUND DESIGN ALL FUCKING MAGNIFICENT I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT. ALESHEA HARRIS YOU CAME OUT THE GATE SWINGINGGGGGG AND I WILL BE SAT FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO IN THE FUTURE. i was gasping so loud, clapping and cheering so hard, cackling my ass off, covering my eyes and holding my breath in suspense and wincing in agony. every single line of dialogue, camera frame, etc propelled the narrative forward and felt so intentional. this was EXPERT attention to detail from someone who has already perfected their craft, while bringing such a unique tone and atmosphere to the table that felt so fresh and like nothing else i’ve seen in theaters. it was such an exhilarating ride start to finish that i never knew where was gonna go, i just couldn’t stop smiling ear to ear, EASILYYYYY top 5 of the year. kara young and mallori johnson i am in complete and utter awe at the sheer talent and capabilities y’all possess, i can’t even put into words how moved i was by both performances. OUTSTANDING!!!! TRUE leading ladies. i can’t believe they aren’t actually twins. sterling k brown you terrified the FUCK outta me… this entire cast was just STELLAR. tens tens tens across the board. and moses sumney you absolutely DEVOURED this soundtrack THANK YOU KING. i started kicking my feet so hard at the skipp needle drop. i literally have no notes like this was just so perfect and i have to watch it again immediately. everybody PLEASE go support this in theaters if it’s playing near you!!! 5/5

I think caring A Lot about how other people act in a crowded cinema is probably an early sign of schizophrenia. Worse if you have to externalise it. What is a cinema if not the outside world organised into rows facing one direction? If you can’t keep it chill that’s on you.

I like being in a busy cinema! My theatre clapped when it started and when it finished. Got to hear teenage boys make obvious theories about what the ending meant and describe the film as “peak”. Glad tickets are being sold and cinemas are getting business.

do not recommend seeing backrooms on opening weekend. at one point the guy next to me just said "that's the backrooms" at full speaking volume
