It is hard to name the kind of grief you feel as you watch the Christian movement that raised you continually justify the most vile things, all for the sake of power, influence, and money. It’s hard to name the grief of knowing that there is nothing so vile they won’t justify.

Every pastor who supports this president should have to read this from the pulpit to their congregation. This is the man Paula White compared to Jesus and said he’s the greatest champion of the Christian faith we’ve ever had in the White House. So read his words aloud.

When you insist on seeing God in the face of the emperor, no matter how corrupt they are, and refuse to see God in the face of the immigrant being arrested after being falsely accused of being a criminal, you have yet to understand the gospel of Jesus.

Laughing in front of cages designed to hold migrants and refugees, many of whom came to this country fleeing extreme violence and poverty, and hoping to raise their children in a more compassionate country. And many of whom followed all the legal procedures to enter the country. And remember, 93% have no record of any violent crimes. This facility, then, is comparable to the internment camps for Japanese Americans during the Second World War. But let's call it what it is: a concentration camp. Jesus wept.
