Emergence timing more important than plant numbers in Canola 🤓
- the ability to emergence canola on a low water potential (only 5mm added, soil moisture <4.5%) was worth more than 1t/ha in 2023 on a sandy soil at Wynarka (GSR ~220mm). @theGRDC Canola Establishment @CSIRO

5th April Canola at suboptimal establishment 11 plants/m2 (from deep sowing) versus optimal establishment from 5th May sowing . I’m backing early April for yield with heat over next week
