Top 10, per @Stathead
Victor Wembanyama now holds the record for the most blocks in a player's first @NBA playoff run. Last night he blocked three shots, bringing his total to 70 and surpassing Dikembe Mutombo's 69 in 1993–94. Wembanyama also became the fifth player since the league began tracking blocks in 1973–74 to record 70 or more blocks in a single postseason.

With a two RBI game tonight, William Contreras is up to 36 RBI on the season through just 53 games played. It’s just the 7th time in Brewers franchise history a catcher has recorded 35 RBI through the team’s first 55 games of a season. Most RBI by a Brewers catcher through the first 55 team games of a season: Darrell Porter (1973) — 41 RBI William Contreras (2024) — 40 RBI Dave Nilsson (1999) — 40 RBI B.J. Here's the full list of 16 players with at least 220 Rbat and 90 Rfield through age 32 per @baseball_ref / @Stathead. Half of this list already has plaques in Cooperstown, and several more will in short order. Pretty outstanding list of ballplayers!
With his 300th home run last night, Matt Olson has become just the 10th player in MLB history with at least 300 HR, 220 Rbat, and 90 Rfield through age 32 (and just the third 1B to reach those marks by his age-32 season, along with Albert Pujols and Mark Teixeira).

It's amazing how similar these three have been throughout their careers, and the @Stathead Versus Finder shows it pretty clearly. How seriously will they be considered for the Hall of Fame, I wonder...

Another incredible performance from Josh Hart in Game 2, which will be forgotten b/c of the loss. Hart has been the best player in this series thus far. He is the only Knick in franchise history to tally more than 25 points, more than 25 rebounds and more than 10 assists over NY’s first two playoff games in a postseason. The only other players to match or exceed these totals over two games this decade are Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic.

Angels ace José Soriano's 0.28 ERA is the 3rd-lowest by a starter through 5 games, since Integration (min 25 IP). The only starter with a lower ERA is the late, great Fernando Valenzuela, who did it twice!

A shorter post on the John Hollinger Game Score that I wrote a great deal about yesterday. Looks like Cooper Flagg will finish with the 10th best Game Score avg since 1983-84 among qualifying rookies…this @Stathead search shows he’s in incredible company.
I really dig the John Hollinger developed Game Score. IMHO it's a good metric to try and measure individual game productivity. It weights the accumulation of counting stats (including negative events like fouls and turnovers) and shooting efficiency as well. You can find each players average game score for a season by looking at their game logs on Basketball Reference. Gm Sc of 10 is avg. 40 is extraordinary (Coop had 2 40 game scores this season and rookies have only had 11 40 game scores dating back to availability of the metric in 77-78). The top guys in the league this season for example had avg game scores of Jokic (28.8), Shai and Luka (both 26.4), Wemby (22.4). 18 rookies played 1300 mins this year (that's essentially the NBA's threshold for awards eligibility (65 gms and 20 mins a game) so that seems like a good sample size). Average game score this season of those 18 rookies: Flagg (16.4), Knueppel (14.0), Edgecombe (12.7), Coward (10.8), Reynaud (10.7), Queen (10.2), D. Harper (9.7), Fears (9.6), Bailey (9.2), Kalkbrenner (8.8), Demin (7.7), Riley (7.4), Tre Johnson (7.3), Clayton (6.1), Clifford (5.9), Will Richard (5.7), Sanders (5.0), Sion James (4.7). Coop's 16.4 avg Game Score is very very impressive when compared to recent RoYs (better than 9 of the last 10) - Castle (10.3), Wemby (18.4), Banchero (13.6), Barnes (13.1), Lamelo (13.0), Morant (13.9), Luka (15.8), Simmons (15.8), Brogdon (8.8), and KAT (15.4). And just because I was curious about a few more - LeBron (14.5), KD (12.5), Tim Duncan, first team all-NBA as a rookie (17.5).

The 2026 Astros are the 11th team dating back to 1898 to issue at least 96 unintentional walks in the first 16 games of a season. FYI, only one team (1925 St. Louis Browns) finished with a winning record, and none qualified for the postseason. h/t @baseball_ref @Stathead

11 different #Braves batters had a hit or RBI last night, a new franchise record as far as we know, last achieved by ANY team in 1979. (Last time the Braves had 10 players do it was in 1999.) Here are the known occurrences of 11 before last night from @Stathead.
