He's lost a lot of command in his sweeper, and his sinker paired w/ the low arm slot has been really solid (at working zones high with sink). So I think the scouting report kinda leaned into the fact the sinker (analytically) in terms of run value, is one of their worst pitches.

His sinker has worked SO effectively because his arm slot works as deception. 12 degrees. So he's throwing a sinker high into zones with like 19 inches of movement. Mixed with the 2SM & 4SM, he can get people to barrel above just chasing ride.

Emerson had a bad outing, yeah. The fact that we chose to throw into the top of the zone at all today though, after how aggressively they attacked it yesterday.. makes me feel like not a person on our staff reviews film day of 🤷🏻♂️
Castillo got a lot of heat for yesterdays game.
This Nats team is a smart (and decent) offense. They approached Castillo with a very disciplined at the plate AND the home plate ump would just NOT give him the corners.
