A shout out to Kiwi Dairy Farmers; DCANZ data shows that April ‘23s milk production is the largest April on record, beating April 21s production by 2.5mil kgMS. A real sprint to the end of the season, closing the season to date deficit down to 0.2% from last season! Nice! #dairy

Easy to see why Waikato cows are producing so well! Grass everywhere, and cows in good condition! January milk production on track to exceed last years figures at this point in time!

A great day in Southland at the #thrivesouthland “everything to gain” conference. Great event, great speakers and great insights! Driving past Edendale reminds me of the importance of making sure we keep trade access, if that’s via sustainable practices or animal welfare…

First GDT of August, and another gnarly price slide… the NZ milk market will undoubtedly flux as a result. Take for example the futures market has opened with an offer of $8.90/kgMS. With all the volatility happening now, it’s hard to remember that there is still 19more auctions

This season. Also unfortunately for milk price, FX rates have moved in the opposite direction this week too. It’s not all doom and gloom, the same trend occurred this time last year…

Note: milk price future is bid at $8.90, not offered. Ie what buyers are offering to buy milk at.

It really bugs me when journalists and now Kiwisaver fund managers, compare Fonterra to Kerry Group in Ireland. Kerry was a terrible idea for farmer suppliers, who are now price takers and regret selling out, unlike Co-Op owners/suppliers of Fonterra 1/2 stuff.co.nz/business/opinion…

Fonterra will always struggle to be as efficient as a listed company, this is the tradeoff of being a Co-Operative. But voicing dislike of Fonterra because Kiwisaver doesn't have access is the most irrational take I've heard yet. Bigger economical impacts without a Co-Op...

Also, it should be noted the lack of understanding that the writer of the article has on the dairy industry; completely uninformed.

Great article in stuff this morning @dairymanNZ; some truly valid points around some intricacies of the kiwi milk market! Some of the media takes of this over the last month have been painfully incorrect!
