Chuck Norris didn't join the Marine Corps...the Marine Corps applied to him. Heaven’s streets have always been guarded by Marines. Today, Chuck Norris reported for duty. We mourn the passing of Chuck Norris, a @usairforce veteran, who also became an honorary Marine in 2007 when awarded the title by then Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway. Chuck Norris is one of just over 100 individuals to be awarded the title of Honorary Marine in the entire 250-year history of the Corps. Commitment to religious liberty is deeply rooted in the doctrine, history, and global experience of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 2026, the United States of America will celebrate its semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary, allowing us to commemorate the preservation of religious liberty in the nation where the @Ch_JesusChrist was restored and organized. I was grateful to meet this week with some of the impressive individuals who are responsible for organizing the celebration of the semiquincentennial. This anniversary is an opportunity for us to come together, serve together, and express gratitude for the freedoms that have allowed all faiths—including ours—to flourish. We remember an article of our faith: “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may” (Articles of Faith 1:11).
