Best thing I did in my police career was join the dog squad. We have the highest capture rates. We're also feared more than the armed police, which works to our advantage. And of course you get to spend the day with the dogs, the most trustworthy, loyal friends you'll ever have.

Getting angry with an old woman who spent too much time chatting with the guy serving in the bank, then remembered a time when I was so lonely I'd ring insurance companies for quotes just to have someone to talk to. You really never know what other people are going through.
