Internal catch up day inspecting our winter trial site. Including a range of trials in canola, mustard, barley, wheat and pulses. Over the coming weeks we will tidy up weeds, fertiliser where required and get some early weed control trials out. Looking forward to tracking this through the season!

Red Legged Earthmite numbers are increasing across the district with some pulse crops pushing thresholds for spraying and they are definitely making themselves known in pastures. While the rain events are helping to suppress numbers cool and dry conditions forecast will see them build.

This year with the co ordination of @haydenpetty1 and AFF we have run replicated variety trials to compare the range of cotton variety options. Picked this week, we are looking forward to getting some ginning and classing results and working out how it all stacks up.

Seed canola is going in the ground. We love being part of producing hybrid canola seed for Aussie farmers.

Where does your pre emergents end up? And do you even know how to see where soil is moving? @em_ayliffe has been looking at different seeding systems and soil movement to see where the fit is for pre ems in different systems. A great tip, some lime/urea/map spread on the soil surface and sow through at full speed will give you a great visual!

Last defoliation passes are being applied to the earliest crops in the district. Picking will start from the end of the week. Finger crossed 🤞🏻 for a good result.

Dry starts are testing everyone at the moment — and while it’s tempting to pull back, pre-ems aren’t the place to cut corners across a whole program. In dry sowing conditions, they won’t always be perfect… but they’re still doing an important job setting up early competition and taking pressure off later. The key is being realistic and making smart decisions: • Match your chemistry to the conditions • Focus on good incorporation at sowing • Understand the risks around crop safety • And don’t expect a perfect result without follow-up rain Get sowing right, set expectations early, and give your crop the best chance from day one.

As we start our winter crop programs the stress is immense. Fuel is expensive. Fertiliser is costly. But we can’t afford to get sowing wrong. Sowing on time is the one decision we can’t “fix” if we get it wrong. Let’s focus on smart choices now, get those crops in right and set the season up for success. It is also another opportunity to have a chat with us for some fresh perspectives, obligation free. Hit us up today!

Proud to sponsor this U10 Touch team. Grand Finalists this season — the result didn’t fall their way, but the effort, teamwork and grit were outstanding. Backing local kids, families and sport is what strong rural communities are built on. Well done team. 👏

How many two-spotted spider mites can you spot? 👀 We’ve seen a big spike in mites in maize this season off the back of dry, dusty conditions. 🌡️ Fun fact: at ~36 °C they can complete a full generation in just 5–6 days — populations can blow out fast.

I'm curious, what’s the simplest digital tool that’s saved #aussiefarmers time or improved your operations? Not the flashiest tech - just something small that made things faster or easier. What is it, and how does it help? #GrainAutomate #AusAg #AustralianFarmers

Timing matters. @HeathMcwhirter out in the sunflowers, checking head maturity to dial in desiccation timing. Getting this call right is about protecting yield, managing moisture, and setting the crop up for a smooth harvest — not rushing it, not leaving it too late. Another reminder that the last decisions of the season still count. 🌻
