Ain’t it the truth.

3.5 Stars • Four women are ready to enjoy retirement after a lifetime of dangerous (as in espionage) work, but their final assignment doesn’t go quite the way they expected. This was a fun, fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists, action, and humor. I especially loved the friendship between these women. It’s not often you find a thriller centered on characters in their 60s, and they absolutely steal the show. I came for the action and stayed for the friendships, but what really made this one memorable was its mix of pragmatic justice and moral ambiguity. #KillersOfACertainAge #DeannaRaybourn #Bookish #suvataReads

O Lord, how great are your works!
How deep are your designs!
The foolish man cannot know this
and the fool cannot understand. Though the wicked spring up like grass
and all who do evil thrive:
they are doomed to be eternally destroyed. ~ Psalm 92

Start your day like a psalmist: Before you grab your phone or rush into the chaos, greet God with gratitude. Take inspiration from David, who said "I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be always in my mouth" in Psalm 34:2. That's not just poetic-it's a rhythm for life. Begin your morning with praise, and you'll train your heart to see grace everywhere. ~ Truthly

5 Stars • A family moves to Shetland hoping for a fresh start, but everything changes when a young nanny is found dead. As Jimmy Perez investigates, old secrets and tensions begin to surface in the close-knit community. I always enjoy the atmospheric setting in this series, and this one delivered another solid mystery with plenty of character-driven drama along the way. Reading is such a fun journey. I just “spent” two books in Japan 🇯🇵 and then I headed to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 for the final book in the Shetland series. Sigh. I’m really going to miss these characters. After eight books and ten seasons of the Shetland adaptation on Acorn TV/BBC, it feels a little like saying goodbye to old friends. #WildFire #Shetland #AnnCleeves #Bookish #suvataReads

4 Stars • Before I Knew I Loved You is the sixth book in this charming series, translated from Japanese. Set in the same magical café where customers can briefly visit the past or future, it delivers another collection of heartfelt stories about love, family, and missed opportunities. I adore these little magical realism books. They’re comforting, emotional, and always leave me with something to think about long after I finish the last page. #BeforeIKnewILovedYou #BeforeTheCoffeeGetsCold #ToshikazuKawaguchi #Bookish #suvataReads

5 Stars • The Divorce follows a woman whose seemingly straightforward divorce unravels into something far more complicated as hidden secrets begin to surface. No one writes addictive thrillers quite like Freida. Every time I think she can’t top her last book, she proves me wrong. The short chapters, nonstop twists, and constant sense of “just one more chapter” kept me reading late into the night. Clever, suspenseful, and wildly entertaining. Another winner from an author who just keeps getting better and better. #TheDivorce #FreidaMcFadden #FiveStarRead #suvataSpillsTheTea #Bookish #suvataReads

4 Stars • 3rd in The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek series • Then Mountains We Call Home is a heartfelt historical novel that returns to Appalachia with rich storytelling, memorable characters, and strong themes of resilience, literacy, and community. Fans of the series will enjoy its warmth and emotional depth, though it’s more reflective than action-packed. 📚🏔️ #TheMountainsWeCallHome #TheBookWomanOfTroublesomeCreek #KimMicheleRichardson #Bookish #suvataReads

4 Stars • Gad Saad says the West is committing suicide through “suicidal empathy” (way too much compassion aimed at the wrong people). Our natural empathy, meant for family and close allies, is now wildly overfiring on criminals, illegal immigrants, trans activists, and the homeless while ignoring victims, women, veterans, and everyday citizens. This leads to soft-on-crime laws, open borders that favor outsiders, and men in women’s sports/spaces, all under the banner of “kindness.” Saad urges us to restore sensible, bounded empathy and use evolutionary common sense before it’s too late. #SuicidalEmpathy #GadSaad #Bookish #suvataReads

Find your Barnabas: Look for someone who sees more in you than you see in yourself-and loves you enough to call it out. Whether it's a friend, mentor, or community, seek out those who won't let you settle, who will lovingly hold you accountable to the greatness God has placed within you. Be a Barnabas for someone else: Don't just affirm people-call them up. Tell them what you see in them. Expect greatness. Encourage them to pray more, sacrifice more, love more. That's what true friendship looks like. ~ Truthly

If "man" and "woman" are just words, they can be redefined. If "marriage" is just a label, it can mean anything. If "truth" is just a social construct, then anyone can have their own version. It all comes back to the same philosophical error: that things don't have meaning or purpose-only names. #Truthly
