I have some news to share about our sick cow the other day!
I was scared to share an update given the chance of recovery is like 1% or less.
She’s sitting up, eating and drinking, and we managed to get her to stand on her own today.
Full update here 💞
* TRIGGER WARNING *
Sick cow, please scroll if this might be a bit too much for you.
It’s not been a great morning.
The nature of farming means that you’re going to have some that get into trouble.
She had trouble calving and I found her in a bad way, we got the tractor, moved her and sat her up. I went to get some hay and water and came back 20 mins later.
Here she lay again.
The heartbreaking thing is sometimes I can help them get up themselves back upright but this one I can’t.
Not a very nice welcome home - I think what if I was here yesterday.
Why didn’t they get checked.
What if I left a few hours earlier this morning to check.
The harsh reality is there isn’t much I could do but very confronting coming home to this.
I’ve always been a big softy with the cows and why I genuinely could never take over the farm.
