For 20% of SF's public transit budget you could buy and run a fleet of 15,000 Waymos and let everyone ride for free. Thats enough to cover the entire ridership of SF's public bus system with much better service. Assumptions: -Conservative 12 year average life of the Waymo with zero value recouped at the end - $120k purchase price per Waymo -$8k/year/waymo in operating costs -Finance purchase with 12 year loan at SF municipal bond rate of 4.85% -$0 in fares!

Hi @GavinNewsom. This is what climate leadership looks like.
Iโ€™ve directed @PennDOTNews to immediately begin the process of transferring $153 million in federal highway money to @SEPTA. That funding will prevent service cuts, delay dramatic fare hikes until at least next July, and ensure the good people of southeastern Pennsylvania can rely on SEPTA to get where they need to go.

Just a reminderโ€” how Dems fight matters a hell of a lot more than phone book sized policy proposals sent from the wilderness. And no better fight than this one right here.

Biden could also reappoint Lina Khan and Schumer could confirm her in the lame duck, which would preserve a dem majority on the FTC for a couple of years.

I think temporarily and selectively shuttering the ports of LA and Long Beach is an underrated power the CA gov and Leg have to decide what Trumpโ€™s economy looks like

Finally, Uber increased it's prices 92% between 2018 and 2021 of it's own volition. Pointing at a 4.5% tax to fund far more efficient public transit while leaving that out is only telling a very small part of the ride-hail cost story. slate.com/business/2022/05/uโ€ฆ

My final pitch on Prop L to voters who both use Muni and reluctantly use ride-hail services when needed. People like me. Prop L is going to save you money over baseline. (more info at fundthebus.com)

It's very unusual that you can know with confidence what the Founding Fathers would've thought about a modern political controversy but "Catholic aristocrats try and seize control of the government" is a rare exception.
Sir Sam? Justice Alito was knighted in 2017 by a group devoted to restoring โ€œaristocratic principles.โ€ nymag.com/intelligencer/artiโ€ฆ

.@SFMTA_Muni just had a red light runner at Forest Hill station almost kill me as I crossed to the far side. Drivers do not respect the red, and it's only a matter of time until a pedestrian is seriously injured or killed. The light needs a red light camera like it was yesterday.
