My portrait bootcamp is for you if you: - Spend too much time thinking about drawing rather than actually drawing - Don't know what to study - Get overwhelmed by all there is to learn - Struggle to balance art with other responsibilities - Thrive with accountability 👇

One trick for staying consistent in your sketchbook is accepting that some days you're going to draw very lazy, scratchy, messy and poorly. Don't judge it. Let yourself draw free from the expectations of a particular result and watch your joy for drawing grow.

You'll get better faster by just doodling for 20 minutes each day than you will by bookmarking any more tutorials. Get off here and go be bad at drawing for a little.

Let some drawings be experimental. Let them be bad. Let them be messy. Let them be fun. Just let them be.

Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw.

In case anyone has forgotten: Hobbies are important beyond whether or not you can monetize them. Not making money from a thing does not make it unimportant or invalid.
Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw. Anyone can learn to draw.

Stop listening to what everyone on the internet says you should draw and just draw what you want. You'll be way happier, improve faster, and won't be fighting tooth and nail to try and stay consistent.

I love how no matter how skilled you are as an artist the beginning stage of a painting always looks incoherent

Making money from your art won't make you feel like a good artist. It will make your creative struggles bigger - more perfectionism, more self doubt, more comparison. It'll expose what needs development.

To some, this looks like failure when it's actually an opportunity for growth.

Abstract watercolor flowers are my guilty pleasure I spent most of my creative career feeling very tense about my work; needing to refine carefully, fully, and perfectly. Watercolor reminds me that I'm most free when I trust my hand and the paint.
