Some minutes ago, I found myself in a situation that many people in crypto can relate to.
I had connected my MetaMask wallet to a Zealy campaign and later started hearing discussions about
$INJ rewards being distributed. Almost immediately, panic set in.
โWaitโฆ can MetaMask even receive
$INJ?โ
โWhat if my rewards get sent and I lose them?โ
โDid I make a mistake by connecting
@MetaMask instead of an
@injective wallet?โ
The more I thought about it, the more confused I became.
Thankfully, I reached out in the
@injective Discord, and thatโs where
@Lahnshen stepped in and helped clear things up for me. What seemed complicated at first turned out to be much simpler once I understood how the system works.
Since I know many community members may have the same questions, I decided to share what I learned.
A simple guide on receiving and managing
$INJ rewards through
@MetaMask and other decentralized wallets.
1๏ธโฃ First, donโt panic.
If you connected your MetaMask or Trust Wallet to a Zealy campaign because that was what the organizers requested, then you most likely did the correct thing.
Campaign organizers usually design their reward distribution system around the wallets participants connect during registration.
2๏ธโฃ Understand that not all
$INJ exists on the same network.
This is where most confusion begins.
There is:
โข Native Injective
$INJ
โข EVM-compatible versions of
$INJ
The network determines how your tokens are received and managed.
3๏ธโฃ If your rewards are sent to the wallet address you connected through MetaMask, your funds are not automatically lost.
Many users assume that because
@injective has its own ecosystem,
@MetaMask cannot interact with it.
Thatโs not entirely true.
MetaMask can interact with Injective-related assets depending on how the distribution is structured.
4๏ธโฃ What happens if you eventually need your
$INJ on the native Injective network?
This is where bridging comes in.
A bridge allows you to move assets between networks.
Think of it as moving money from one bank branch to another while keeping ownership of the funds.
You are not selling your tokens.
You are simply transferring them from one blockchain environment to another.
5๏ธโฃ The process is usually straightforward:
โข Connect your wallet
โข Select the source network
โข Select Injective as the destination
โข Confirm the transaction
โข Wait for the transfer to complete
Once completed, your assets become available on the destination network.
6๏ธโฃ Another thing I learned is that many users rush to bridge before they even know how rewards will be distributed.
My advice?
Wait for the official distribution announcement.
Confirm:
โ Which network rewards will be sent on
โ Which wallet address will receive them
โ Whether any action is required from participants
Most of the time, the answer is already provided by the team.
7๏ธโฃ One lesson crypto has taught me repeatedly is this:
When youโre confused, ask.
The worst thing you can do is make assumptions with your funds.
A simple question in Discord saved me from unnecessary stress and prevented me from taking actions I didnโt fully understand.
Thatโs why community members and moderators matter so much.
Special thanks to
@Lahnshen for taking the time to explain everything and helping me understand how the process works.
8๏ธโฃ For anyone participating in Injective campaigns, Zealy quests, ambassador programs, or community rewards:
Donโt panic if you connected MetaMask.
Take time to understand the network youโre interacting with, verify information through official channels, and ask questions whenever youโre unsure.
Crypto rewards should be exciting, not stressful.
Hope this helps someone who is currently where I was a few days ago.
If youโve ever been confused about wallets, bridging, or receiving rewards, youโre definitely not alone.
