The recent turmoil within the #WordPressWars -marked by bans, lawsuits, and escalating tensions—has left us at a crossroad. Will this lead to fragmentation and decline, or will it spark a new era of innovation and freedom? Regardless of the #WordpressDRAMA , WP devs, now more than ever... should be focused on empowering themselves. Recent events have shown us just how fragile the sense of security around our tools can be. Plugins especially, that many of us have relied on for years can be rendered obsolete in a matter of weeks. So what’s the solution, and are we relying on too much? It’s time to look under the hood of our favorite tools and start replicating the core functionalities we actually need. Instead of building dependency upon dependency, regain control by crafting lean, tailored solutions. Let's be honest, not many devs using plugins for WP are NOT actually using 100% of the features. They might not even need them. Far too often, we rely on a plugin for a single, specific feature—something we could have easily written ourselves—only to risk future conflicts and complications. This is our opportunity to break free from the false sense of security WP has recently provided. Let's return to the heart of what makes WordPress great: community-driven innovation that empowers everyone. Let’s embrace this moment to rediscover our independence. This isn’t the end. It’s a chance to build something better, together.

I was speaking about this the other day. wordpress.org/news/2024/10/s… Although, how do we all feel about this "If you don't like it use something else attitude?" Is this self destructive to the WP ecosystem as a whole? OR are we about to see the most beautiful wave of WP freedom we have ever experiened?

Solutions are contributions. PERIOD As a WP dev for nearly two decades, the most appealing part of the ecosystem to me, was the vast majority of solutions being delivered by the community. These solutions solve problems and make the devloper experience better. Thank you @wpengine for providing a hosting solution and tooling to make it significantly easier for my clients to adopt and most importantly thank you for helping me provide for my family ❤️ Thank you @wp_acf for helping me proflvide solutions that truly cater to my clients, and opening the door as wide as possible to enhance the core @WordPress experience. ❤️

Working from home with a small family can be a wild ride, but it’s totally doable. Here is how I make it work: - Set clear work hours with your family - Create a dedicated workspace - Take breaks that divert your attention - Draw inspiration from your personal life - Contribute to your company culture

If a programmer says something is weird, it's because they don't understand it.

If I were a Jr Developer trying to pick a tech stack, this would be it... PHP | jQuery | Bootstrap | NGINX | WordPress | AWS These selections might be surprising... The trends you will find in your feed will certainly say otherwise. The data reveals that newer frameworks and solutions still have relatively low adoption rates. I suggest you navigate W3Techs.com for this data: 1 - Visit the specific technology sections. 2- Look at the 'Usage Statistics' and 'Market Share' graphs. 3- Compare these figures to determine which technologies dominate their respective fields. In a time where job security is a must, and the jungle of technologies spreads ~ leverage facts over hype.

Why This Stack? According to W3Techs data. PHP and jQuery are the leaders in their categories, with PHP used by 76.4% of all reported websites and jQuery by 77%. Bootstrap, as the leading CSS framework used by 18.1% of sites and holding a 77.9% market share, remains the top choice even though a majority of sites do not use any CSS framework. NGINX and Apache are the preferred web servers, with usage at 34.2% and 30.2% respectively, illustrating their reliability and widespread adoption. WordPress dominates the CMS category with a 43.3% usage rate, significantly outpacing its nearest competitor, Shopify. For web hosting, Amazon Web Services leads with 5.8% usage.

Since its humble beginnings in 2011, Bootstrap has come a long way 💪 Bootstrap is currently used by 18.1% of ALL websites and for a CSS Framework it has a market share of 77.9% 🏆
