After her swearing-in,
@KanyesigyeMerc1 plans to establish a special youth desk dedicated to supporting young people who face challenges accessing key government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, national skilling initiatives, and essential services including passports, National IDs, and other vital documents.
This desk will be staffed by a designated officer whose role will be to coordinate directly with relevant government institutions, simplifying procedures and removing bureaucratic barriers that prevent young people from obtaining the identification and documentation required to participate fully in national development programs.
Beyond access to services, the initiative will also track and monitor government commitments to the youth, including reserved public procurement opportunities and outstanding presidential pledges, ensuring transparency, accountability, and real results for young Ugandans.
Ladies and gentlemen, you are yet to see the true leader in Mercy. Rarely do we hear leaders think this boldly, this practically, and this intentionally for the youth. This is leadership, rooted in service, not ambition, vision, not vanity.
The youth made a clear statement. They rejected imposed projects and self-centered agendas they could not relate to. They refused leaders who were fighting tooth and nail to enter Parliament for personal gain rather than public service. They chose purpose over politics, service over survival, and vision over vanity.
And this is why they said yes to Kanyesigye Mercy, a leader who came not to fill her stomach, but to serve her generation.
