Pink salmon, native to the North Pacific, are rapidly invading Nordic waters. Since 2017, numbers have surged 50x, especially in Norway. Their impact on ecosystems remains unclear due to limited research and management plans #fish #invasive Read more here: doi.org/10.60910/ber2025.wt0…

A recent paper on the use of eDNA to detect #pinksalmon in Swedish rivers, from a member of NASCO's Pink Salmon Working Group and EU-funded PINKTrack project @tabstaveley and others, shows a wider distribution than previously thought, raising concerns over the implications for #wildAtlanticsalmon

🚨 UNDERCOVER: A few weeks ago I visited a salmon farm on the Faroe Islands– what I saw shocked me– it's an environmental and social disaster, it cannot go on. Yet Bakkafrost in the UK are certified @rspcaassured@RSPCA_official, do the right thing and drop the scheme 🎣🍣

Pink salmon have made a rare 'even year' appearance on the River Spey this week. This individual is unlikely to be the only one in Scottish or UK rivers - so be vigilant and report any catches (alive or dead) to your local Board or Fishery Trust. @fms_scotland @AST_Salmon

SIGN THE 10 POINT PLAN FOR A SEWAGE FREE WINDERMERE savewindermere.com On 29th June, we held our March to Save Windermere, and we were blown away. It was such an incredible event and seeing everyone come together to share the simple message of “stop the sewage in Windermere”, was truly amazing. A huge thank you to all who attended and of course to our amazing team and our volunteers. Whether you made it to the march of not, you can now help the campaign by signing our 10-point plan for a sewage-free Windermere. As soon as the new government is in power, we will be driving the conversation forward and pushing for the implementation of this plan as the only way to protect our lake for future generations.

Following their establishment in the white Sea area of Russia, Pink salmon were infrequent visitors to the UK in the ~60 years prior to 2017, but that year something changed and they were recorded in larger numbers across much of western Europe. #Pinksalmon #INNSweek
