"For patients seeking abortion, sometimes that is an act of motherhood. They don’t want their child to have a life where they’re suffering,” Dr. Beverly Gray @DrBevGray@DukeHealth@DukeMedSchool@DukeCancer
After this week, felt like I needed to share pics of me practicing manual vacuum aspirations (an abortion procedure) on papayas with @MSFC. Ignorance and political fervor will not stop me from learning to provide abortions to pts who need them. Bodily autonomy is a human right.
Check out @DocsforChoice, an amazing NGO doing great work globally on expanding access to abortions. I also recommend Women On Web for info on self-managing a medication abortion and how to acquire meds: womenonweb.org/
I can’t wait to begin my training with @dukeobgyn, an institution which I know values full spectrum care for pregnant people. I hope everyone is doing their part (however big/small) to get involved, support advocacy movements, and make their voices heard. #AbortionIsHealthcare
Concerns regarding the volume of medical providers compared to patients has long been a conversation topic. @talbott_jen investigated how #obgyn and #gynonc are doing and presented her findings at #acog2022. How can we better position ourselves to meet future demand? @acog
I hope you caught my poster at #ACOG2022! Excited to share my findings on geographic disparities in access to #obgyn and #gynonc providers. Looking forward to sharing manuscript soon, keep an eye out! 😊😊 As always, huge thanks Drs @WassonMegan and @adikhurana for collaborating!
