18 year old Ugandan third baseman Bernard Eluk has a .428 average with a 1.174 OPS for the Asahikawa Be:Stars, an independent Japanese team. The stats are even better than their website says. He’s a legit prospect and I’m surprised he was not signed by an MLB team

A pitcher being unable to average almost 99mph after multiple MLB seasons is pretty normal, and could indicate settling into a velo range he can reliably recover from. But also there’s basically no avoiding the fact that a SP sitting upper 90s for years will inevitably hurt their arm in some fashion. Just a question of when and how they bounce back.
Skenes fastball velo down 1.1 mph from last year and almost 2 mph from 2024. Should this be seen as a harbinger of injury to come? What do we think is happening here @enosarris @DSzymborski @LanceBroz @pitchprofiler @PitcherList

1. Leon Rose is his godfather and was his dad’s agent and Rose’ son is Jalen’s current agent.
2. Knicks hired his father a month before signing Jalen
3. They traded for 3 of his Villanova teammates.

More walks than strikeouts this year (18-13), 90% contact rate, 44.8% pull rate.
Only issue really is that 50% GB rate. But still hitting for power despite that.
Really impressive and encouraging for a kid who wont be 19 until August in Single-A.
Juneiker Caceres (CLE) is currently on one of the most impressive stretches in MiLB this season:
- 7 consecutive multi-hit games
- 1.639 OPS
- 4 HR
- 0 K in 33 PA
He now holds a 162 wRC , the best of any teenager in Lo-A!
