Alif Ashraf is the Founder and Executive Director of Mental Health Matters (MHM), a youth-led nonprofit organization focused on community-based mental wellness and leadership development. Her work explores the intersections of climate justice, housing, food systems, and public health. Alif’s approach emphasizes community-engaged research,
policy-informed practice, and collaborative partnerships to advance equitable and sustainable social change.
Jamii, founded in 2011, is a not-for-profit arts organization based in historic Old Town Toronto. Their mission is to enhance togetherness through immersive artistic experiences in public spaces and the Jamii Hub. They host arts events and workshops for and by the people of the Esplanade and beyond, with the intent of creating shared memories. Their impact is wide: to date, they have organized over 200 events, worked with hundreds of artists, organized more than 400 workshops, engaged over 1,000 participants in projects, and entertained over 20,000 audience members and more than 30,000 exhibit viewers.
