The mighty mitochondria strike again!💪⚡️So excited to share our latest paper on exercise and mitochondrial adaptations. Endless gratitude to our fantastic collaborators and funders for their support!
In our latest study led by @tcppham, we found that the mitochondrial (mt) protein SLIRP is a PGC-1α target that regulates mt structure, respiration, and mt-mRNA in muscle. And exercise restored these functions, even with SLIRP disruption and low mt-mRNA! nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Excited to share our latest work on the dynamic relationship between mitochondria and exercise! 🏋‍♀️ Dive into the details and share your thoughts in the thread below.🙏
Just submitted our manuscript🤞 We uncover the exercise-responsive mitochondrial-mRNA-stabilizing protein SLIRP, as a PGC-1α target that regulates mitochondrial structure, respiration, and mitochondrially-encoded-mRNA pools in skeletal muscle. Preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

In press! @DelfinisLuca in our lab found cancer causes weakness in quads diaphragm BEFORE atrophy BUT quads recover 'specific' force once atrophy occurs Can we embrace muscle heterogeneity and the power of compensation in mice to guide new therapies? insight.jci.org/articles/vie…

Can we alter glucagon receptor signaling outcomes by changing it’s localization within the cell? Yes, we can! Let me explain how (and why that matters). (1/7) @RevathiSekar14 @kmotzler @helmholtz_diabc @HelmholtzMunich @Cell_Metabolism @CellPressNews tinyurl.com/y5fbu2bc

Replying to @tcppham
@tcppham and @A_Irazoki recently tested the reproducibility of the rotarod. We tested the same 14 mice 1 week apart. The correlation between the 1st and 2nd week was quite disappointing. Does anyone #myotwitter have similar experiences? Input/insights would be greatly appreciated
