REMINDER: Next Thurs. (6/1) is our (free) virtual symposium on foundation models! Much of the attention on generative AI concerns commercial applications. This event will explore a multi-stakeholder approach to these technologies in enterprise contexts. techethicslab.nd.edu/events/…

I have sabbatical plans! The Tech Ethics Lab at Notre Dame fellowship gives me the ability to spend more time over the next year doing more science communication. 🥳 i.e., I hope you like TikToks and YouTube videos... I'll still be based in Boulder but will have space to travel.
We are so excited to announce Casey Fiesler and Marianna Bergamaschi Ganapini are going to be visiting fellows at the Lab! techethicslab.nd.edu/news/no…

Casey is an associate professor at @CUBoulderCMCI and will be working on a project titled “AI Ethics for All.” Expect some great TikTok and YouTube content, among other things, as a result.

Marianna is an assistant professor of philosophy at @UnionCollege. Her project, “New Tools for Ethical Risk Analysis and Risk Mitigation in the Use of AI,” aims to produce a step-by-step guide for companies on how to assess and then address risk connected to the ways they use AI.

Really excited about the “Auditing AI” course Ju Yeon Jung and @camkormylo have developed as part of our broader initiative on the topic. ⬇️
As @NotreDame undergrads plan their schedules for fall, we check in with some of the courses that students can take as part of the tech ethics minor, including "The Archaeology of Hacking" and "Auditing AI." techethics.nd.edu/fall23

The joint signing of the #RomeCall for #AIEthics by Catholics, Jews and Muslims is a hopeful sign. Religions are accompanying humanity in the development of a technology centered on the human person, thanks to the shared ethical reflection on the use of algorithms. #Algor-ethics
