ANY WOMAN WHO GETS STAINED ON HER PERIOD IS STUPID, ARE YOU A BABY? The other day, i shared a boda with a lady going to town, i didn’t know her coz I boarded from the Bank of Uganda stage heading to Kireka when we reached Banda, she was getting off, the boda guy parked well to the side, i got off first, but I noticed my trousers were slightly wet when the lady stepped down, she had badly stained herself u could see the panic on her face, i quickly removed my sweater & gave it to her so she could wrap it around her waist, i took out my handkerchief & wiped the boda seat before anyone could notice much, the lady quickly disappeared, i never saw which side she took, after she left, the boda rider said a statement I will never forget “Any woman who gets stained on her period is stupid, Are you a baby? meanwhile the other boda riders nearby were nodding their heads like professors in a subject they have never studied the rider even went ahead & said the lady had cursed his day coz such a thing had never happened on his boda i told him something he probably had never heard before, women’s bodies are different, hormones are different, some women bleed heavily & have to change pads many times a day, others may not bleed as much, some women faint during their periods, some get severe cramps & even get admitted to hospital, others manage to go through the day like everything is normal, periods are not something a woman can switch on & off like the new Umeme, it is a moment when women actually need more support, not insults i have also even seen men host ladies in their homes & when the lady starts her period, the man begins complaining “why did she come when she knew she was almost in her days?” I feel disgusted but wat many men don’t understand is that the menstrual cycle can change suddenly, it’s not something women fully control, just like our ceremonial government ministers so instead of shaming women, we should understand them, i felt I should use this Women’s Day to create a little awareness among men about the menstrual cycle Sometimes wat a woman needs in that moment is not judgment, It is simply understanding Happy Women’s Day ❤️❤️🫶🏿

In regions like Karamoja & Kotido 🇺🇬 extreme weather and repeated crop losses are pushing farming families into debt, hunger and deep despair. @tecyhellen examines how climate shocks are eroding mental health & livelihoods. Here's how 👉bit.ly/4a01JhE

Worth your read. As the seasons begin, 1000s of women, children and men are going to be affected. Even you that buys from the stall. It’s time we had the conversation of climate change and mental health.
In Kotido, northern Uganda🇺🇬, the climate crisis has done more than dry up rivers - it has broken lives & drained hope. But under a shade tree, a circle of women is finding strength, solace, and community through shared healing. Find out how👉bit.ly/4jYA59A

Believe victims! Believe victims! Believe victims! Stop using "have you reported to police?" When you could never trust the same to recover an item you've lost to thieves. Let's not wait til for abuse happen to those we know before we create safety for victims. #Bikukwatako

We can’t stand and say we promote reproductive health if we criminalize choice. It doesn’t matter the reason, I reserve the right to decide. Moral compass isnt law. If u think it’s wrong take it up with God, but don’t use it as an excuse to cage 💁‍♀️. Abortion is health care.

Criminalizing abortions doesn't stop them from happening. It jeopardizes access to safe abortions & causes unnecessary loss of lives when women are left with no choice but to seek remedy from quacks. Legal and safe abortion are healthcare! #Bikukwatako #16daysofactivism

SGBV is rooted in power and harmful gender norms. Laws alone can’t change behavior, especially when culture keeps silencing survivors. Join our X Space tomorrow as we discuss: "How Cultural Mediation Undermines Justice for SGBV Survivors" x.com/i/spaces/1jMJgRZRlrYGL

Martha raised a very important point here, but give it up to men to gaslight and make it about the woman. Man claimed she cheated, no evidence, but he admitted of taking away her freedom for a “revenge” baby. Like what happened to breaking up and moving on. 🙄
I’ve just seen a video of a guy admit he got his baby mama pregnant out of revenge because she was ‘misbehaving.’ 😭 It’s crazy how men know that a baby can strip a woman of her freedom, her body, and her options… while some women still believe a child will make him love them more. Sad, sad 😔 Ladies, if there’s no love, a baby won’t fix it. What it will do is change your life as you know it.

While you'll often hear Endometriosis being talked about, Adenomyosis is a silent scourge that's also often misdiagnosed. Diffuse Adeno spreads across the uterine muscle, focal where the tissue & lesions are situated in one spot and adenomyomas. #ForEveryStageOfWoman

Adenomyosis is when endometrial tissue that lines the uterus & sheds during your period) grow within the uterine muscle. This causes scarring, severe bleeding, a bulky/swollen uterus, pain during sex, knife-like pain in the uterus etc. #ForEveryStageOfWoman #ChooseFreedom

This is what a leader says on expectant mothers too poor to afford private care, so they are forced to lay on cold floors in hope of treatment in underfunded facilities. Then we wonder why Uganda still has a high maternal mortality rate. I’ll skip the infant mortality rate😪
Patients can only crowd a place where they expect service. That crowding is good faith in a govt facility. I would have become worried if the facility had been abandoned.

Then again it’s a man, who will never be in that position, worse his on tax payer money so his hospitals are definitely not in UG, Agakhan is there public hospital. Their daughters and wives will never see the inside of those facilities. Hell is too cool for some of your souls😮‍💨

They say telling a step from lived experience makes it better. Last year I was diagnosed with stage 3 Endometriosis and advanced Adenomyosis and @RhonetAtwiine was there each step of the way. From staying by my side through painful cramps, to my first diagnosis 1/3

From being misdiagnosed, to learning this disease with me, till my surgery late last year. As a friend she experienced each emotion with me and as a health reporter that she is, I knew that she will dig this deeper, and try to take the information out there.

Today I celebrate that she has added her voice to our own as Endo warriors to end the silence about Endometriosis and Adenomyosis a gynecological disease that is often misdiagnosed and usually seen in its advanced stages. Thank you @nbstv and @RhonetAtwiine for this piece.
