I have seen a rising number of major givers collaborating in "giving collectives." The idea is that by combining their resources and funds, they can do more. I have concerns that this is "missions as problem-solving."

Again, I understand the power of framing missions as problem-solving. It has generational appeal. But let's not lose sight of the fact that, at its core, missions is worked out as evangelism, discipleship, and planting churches.

There might be breakthroughs in technology and medicine and science that lead us to think we can create breakthroughs in missions. I'm all for innovation (I wrote a book on the topic) but ministry breakthroughs are inherently spiritual.

I haven't used Apple products for years. My Folding Samsung phone is just better than any iPhone. My Windows laptop has a touch screen. Android tablets are way cheaper. But... this new CEO may signal a return to Apple making cutting edge hardware. If so... I would jump back.
