I can always comprehend this stance at the surface level but itβs always said as if playing vanilla playthroughs is the only way to engage with a game.
If you said you needed to be playing competitive or speedrunning yourself to be a fan of a gameβs competitive scene or speedrunning scene, two subsets of a game as relevant as vanilla playthroughs, youβd get met with confusion. If I said you had to play a gameβs story mode to be a fan of the story mode, I would get a standing ovation. π
I feel like if you have to bend the objective definition of βfanβ to keep the logic congruent, itβs not an actual consistent point. And no, watching a playthrough is notβ¦in any way shape or formβ¦comparable to straight up not watching a movieβ¦why is that take so popular?
You watch movies, you read books, you play games. How hard is it to understand not engaging with the medium you call yourself a fan of is considered larp

whether u like it or not is besides the point since my confusion always lies in the surprise.
these tournaments aim to put the spotlight on the game and more importantly to them, their stream, by prioritizing big names that play the game big names that donβt. thereβs no secret to uncover.

I feel like this kind of player just doesn't exist? I've heard of people paying others to do "tedious" stuff for them, but 9 times out of 10, that person would be a meta player that's only ever interested in playing a game's endgame modes.
I feel like character collectors just spend on the top ups instead lol

I still don't understand people who 'play' genshin or hsr or any gacha game just to pull for charas and feel like everything else (exploring, battle, events, story, etc) is like the heaviest burden and waste of time to the point they pay someone else to play the game for them or

questioning why people spend to make up for the rewards lost from skipping events/story/etc is pretty silly though imo. that's kinda like. the entire point of gacha games π
u either spend money to save time, or ur spending time to save money, and both are equally beneficial to the company and look great to their investors.
as someone who runs f2p accounts across hsr/wuwa/zzz, i dont really find myself to be above or less questionable than anyone who chooses to spend instead

i also had firefly break for node 1/2 or therta for node 3 if i really wanted to optimize, but double elation is always fun
