❗️Ukraine denies involvement in the strike on a bus carrying Belarusian children
Ukraine’s General Staff said that no Ukrainian drones were operating in Russia’s Bryansk region at the time of the incident and described Moscow’s accusations as a Kremlin information provocation.
The statement also noted that Russia itself systematically violates international humanitarian law by striking Ukrainian cities, residential neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, and other civilian infrastructure. Recent missile attacks, including those on Kyiv, have killed dozens of civilians, among them children.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine engage exclusively lawful military targets and do not conduct combat operations against the civilian population,” the General Staff said.
A drone struck a bus carrying children from Belarus in Russia’s Bryansk region
A youth football team from the Belarusian city of Rechytsa was traveling to the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik when the attack occurred.
According to Russian authorities, one adult chaperone was killed and seven people were hospitalized. One child remains in critical condition.
Moscow blamed Ukraine for the strike and opened a criminal investigation.
“We view this as yet another act of terrorism against civilians,” Belarus’ Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, some observers have raised another possibility: that the incident could also serve the Kremlin’s interests by reminding Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko why straying too far from Moscow comes at a price.
