Some Hyperliquid OGs predicted that the "Korea-Cabal" would dump everything after the BASED TGE and send the price straight to zero.
However, BASED successfully completed its TGE and is now showing over 80M $BASED staked.
Just look at the $SWAP and $HPL charts. Paradoxically, those holding massive amounts of $HYPE are the ones killing the Hyperliquid ecosystem. These so-called "native EVM projects" inflate their TVL by having whales deposit $HYPE, lure in retail investors, and then distribute tokens to these depositors.
The inevitable end? Tada—a massive dump from day one.
The established $HYPE whales are so greedy that they refuse to let go of their bags while simultaneously exploiting these projects. Even BASED was forced to buy back $14M worth of HYPE, all while trying to build an organic community.
Ironically, BASED chose to list on external CEXs as a way to escape the grip of the HYPE OG Cabal.
Stay tuned for the next chapter of BASED. The shift is coming.

So how do we deal with this pain?
Sit back for a moment and let's relax a bit.
Think about why you first picked up a pencil as a kid.
You probably drew just because it was fun.
No expectations. No pressure. Just pure joy.
Somewhere along the way, we lost that.
Maybe we need to go back to that feeling.
Create because we love it. Enjoy the process. Think less about the outcome.
It doesn’t guarantee success.
But it makes it easier to keep going.
And if you keep going long enough, something will hit eventually.
It always does.

A large part of these thoughts have been conceived around the general notion within the team: Perp DEX meta is pretty much over.
For Perp DEX-es,
If you launched in Q3 25, you'll probably do fine
If you launched in Q4 25, you're probably late
If you are launching in Q1 26, probably cooked
If nothing new is being brought to the table, all these new shiny Perp DEX-es are simply going to be doing the same things expecting different outcomes. Lighter TGE has started to show some hands around how Perp DEX-es are going to be valued ahead.
This is also why Based CANNOT and WILL NOT be seen as a Perp DEX. It has brought us huge traction sure, but there's a way bigger market out there waiting for us to conquer, and Perp DEX-es are a small blip in the grand scheme of things.
Do watch out for the next few things we are going to release to start conquering in H1 2026.

Trade Everything, Spend Everywhere
A few months ago, I penned the initial thoughts of what @BasedOneX will be. x.com/edison0xyz/status/1985…
Based is the everything app. We allow people to trade everything, spend everywhere.
While perps trading has brought Based to where it is now, the future is more than crypto perps. Today, we have integrated with Equities (Unit) and Prediction Markets (Polymarket). Based has built a revolutionary new perp DEX (Hyena) together with @ethena that allows users to earn rewards on their collateral, which unlocks new trading strategies. HyENA will be open to the public with many new markets. Several teams are also working with Based to unlock new interesting markets.
Our mission is far from complete. 2026 is an amazing time as we continue to accelerate adoption of Based as the everything app for trading, money, and commerce.
S2 has just ended, and we are preparing for the next chapter. The journey ahead will not be easy, but necessary if we want to build a financial powerhouse that houses everything the user wants to trade.
This is the moment where we define what the Based community truly stands for. From the beginning, Based has been shaped by the people who stayed when it was early, uncertain, and unfinished. We are grateful to those who have been with us since the start, not as users, but as partners in what we are building.
As we move into the next stage, this is our opportunity to be deliberate about who we are. To define what "Based" means, not just as a product, but as a community.
What comes next will be built with those who share that belief.
