What they forget to say is that many devs are only here to extract, not to create.
Meanwhile, we put in time, money, and creative energy, while many of them came in with the mindset of only extracting.
And let’s be honest, most of them never stop getting paid.
But what about the player who spent time testing an alpha, spent money on NFTs or subscriptions, and still never got anything back?
People need to stop acting like players shouldn’t be allowed to monetize their time.
The biggest problem is that a lot of devs sold the idea that if you tested the game and helped improve it, you would be rewarded, but in the end, that reward never came.
And just to be clear, devs should get paid too.
But they should get paid through their product, like we’ve already seen happen in some cases, not by selling a false dream while extracting everything the community and VC money put in while waiting for a game that never came.
Failure is part of the process, but you have to at least try.
You want Web3 gaming to survive? Buy stuff in the game, not extract value from it. The only way a game survives isn’t just by being fun, it has to be profitable and fun.
