It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS, indeterminate dendritic cell histiocytosis or other (non-LCH) histiocytic sarcomas cases. I'm trying to understand non-surgical chemo and targeted therapy options, new pathology markers to better diagnose subtypes/treatments, and any data on progression in pediatric patients. Please feel free to share – I’m trying to cast a wide net due to the rarity of this condition and how little is known. People can contact me directly at my first name (as written in my profile) at octant.bio.

There are people that submit their grants more than 8 minutes ahead of the deadline???
28 Nov 2024
If you submit your grants last minute, you're in good company. Half of the applications were submitted in the last two days, in the 2005 NIH Pioneer grant cycle. The red bars indicate the awardees; one of them submitted just 8 minutes before the deadline.

🚨New preprint from our lab! We map the RNA interactions in E. coli infected by lambda, revealing an RNA-driven regulatory layer in phage-host dynamics. We find a phage-encoded sRNA hijacking host replication machinery, impacting the phage cycle.#microbiology #phages @MeetingRna

This is definitely one of the longest running projects in the lab b/c we were stuck in a trap of thinking about Sie proteins blocking competing phages. But wasn't a satisfying answer to fit the biology we observed - kudos to @vee_coli for persevering and figuring it out!
New prepint alert @themaxwelllab! 📢 📢 📢 Superinfection exclusion (Sie) proteins aren’t just for defence – they also ensure the spread of viral progeny! Prophages that lack Sie proteins devour their young via a process we call the Kronos effect. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
