On this day, the North Atlantic Region salutes Nellie May Quander (Feb. 11, 1880 - Sept. 24, 1961) . She was instrumental in ensuring that the sorority was nationally incorporated as a non-profit under the name Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, IncorporatedĀ®, on January 29, 1913.

BIG NEWS: DC Public Schools just received a $2.5 million grant to expand the @DCPSConnected model to @TurnerRocketsDC and @HendleyES through 2027. This funding will allow robust after school programming, mental health services, and tutoring, among other community-based resources.
