The Nigerian film and theatre community has lost a titan. Dr Kola Oyewo, veteran actor and scholar, has passed away at 80 as announced by Kunle Afod on social media.
Kola Oyewo’s contributions to Yoruba theatre, Nollywood, and the training of future generations remain an enduring legacy.
Renowned for his celebrated portrayal of Odewale in Ola Rotimi’s ‘The Gods Are Not to Blame’ and roles in productions such as ‘Saworoide’ and ‘Koseegbe,’ he dedicated more than six decades to Nigerian theatre, film, and academia.
May his soul rest in peace.
