Tech deserves some swag. There’s no digestible form of tech media aimed directly at a Gen Z audience. That’s why we came together to make The Cap Table, a bi-weekly talk show that will dive into tech, AI, startups, and everything in between. Episode 1 out now. Link in bio.

.@Rasmic kick started his youtube career with an unorthodox approach. He created his first video to cater torwards the eyes of recruiters in hopes of landing a job. This video was authentic, raw, and informational, drawing attention from viewers that encouraged him to keep going. This snowballed into a 93k subscriber youtube channel, with main topics of Ai and how to navigate through this "Ai Bubble".

What 14 year old do you know is this poised and mature? Alby quotes, "reputation matters more than money or fame". Such a powerful quote to stand by at such a young age, not being arrogant from his heaps of success at a young age. He also speaks about his mentor/ positive influence, Richard, guiding him through the new tech space. He helped me navigate through crypto scams and negative media talk

.@albysjourney does NOT care about college! This young 14 year old entrepreneur, hasn't put much thought into college for his future since the company he's working for, 10x, is doing so well. He's primarily focused on how to better the company and finishing high school for his near future.

.@albysjourney, CMO of @10x_apps , speaks about what they're building and what the app is all about. 10x is similar to a "Shopify but specifically catered to building mobile apps." Features include building the app, launching it , and marketing it all within 10x. Their future goals are for users to make 10k a month without leaving 10x. They eventually want to make it customizable, having certain features that make it easier and allow more creativity for users.

.@albysjourney speaks about his upbringing and what got him into the tech scene He started off "making Roblox games" to have chance of making V-bucks. He eventually tried the popular "Dropshipping" method but was scammed. He then built an app that was similar to Duolingo but was meant to teach teenagers finance. This funneled into him posting on social media, starting from Instagram and Tiktok, then finally on X.

Eunice explains why she thinks UGC marketing feels soul-sucking "I personally think UGC is very soul-sucking" "I wouldn’t call it fake. There’s a reason why people resonate with it, because you are actually appealing to their emotions. You’re pinning out their pain points, you’re addressing it, and people respond to it" "It feels a bit inauthentic. It feels very mechanical" "I think UGC should act like even more so, because you're running so many scripts, you're writing. Like, you're just kind of figuring out how to optimize for everything" "It's just like, one person finds a hook that works and everyone jumps on to do the same thing. Like, it's... I don't know, it feels a bit unhuman"

Arlan shares the best advice he got from a Dalton Caldwell "Do not focus on absolute number, meaning revenue. Try to keep your customers healthy, focus on retention, and try to grow 10% week over week or month over month" "If you’re going to go exponential while not caring about the number, when you look back, you’re going to be at $1B revenue because you're just growing exponentially while the numbers might seem very low in the beginning" "I got that advice from Dalton Caldwell which is an ex-partner of YC and the first hire at YC, and PG himself. He’s really, really bullish on not caring about the absolute number that much and just growing"

Arlan says startups need founder-led marketing to actually win "I really, really believe in founder-led sales and founder-led marketing. I think, like, the true marketing is a true founder story, and I really tried to double down on that for the first six months of the company. That's why I was really heavy on Twitter" "I do not try to chase clout or be a performative founder, because there are a lot of those in this app. I'm not going to name drop, but there are a lot of those in this app who just want to build a company for the sake of building a company and making money" "I really want to impact billions of people, and that's my primary goal, because I know money is a f*****g by factor. It doesn't really impact what I'm following" "For DevTools specifically, I’m going to double down on hackathons and events. It’s really important to establish a community" "A lot of sweaty engineers on Twitter just code all day, but they do not distribute the product, and they end up dying and becoming a dead startup" "I think distribution right now is most important, more important than ever, and you should double down on doing events. Obviously, the product has to speak for itself, like the product has to be good, but events and posting consistently on Twitter matter because most of the researchers, engineers, and talent are on Twitter. So yeah, just go organic marketing first"

Arlan gives his advice to Gen Z founders who are just getting started "Stop learning, go experiment with things. You have to just try on the first day and learn on the go" "I never went to the traditional path of going to college, studying through a CS lecture, grinding p-sets. I just started building projects, and whenever something like a bug occurred, or something happened, or I was in some bad situation, I just opened Google, ChatGPT, Claude, and just prompted and learned on the go" "For example, setting up Stripe billing. I didn't know how to do that shit, bro, and I learned that in a couple hours because it's so easy now to learn" "It comes to every single aspect of life, social, talking to girls. You have to go come up to a girl to actually learn how to talk to girls. You're not going to learn by asking your friend or watching YouTube videos on how to kiss a girl. You just have to learn. That's the universal thing, and a lot of people underestimate that"

Eunice explains what SONDER is and how it works "Sonder is a social network of personal universes, and we help you find the stories that connect you with each other" "Our thesis is that human desires run on the desire to understand and be understood. If you create a platform where you can collect so much personal context, there are so many things you can do to matchmake each other with your stories" "It’s kind of like a journaling platform. You can write your stories on it, but we let you upload your iMessage data, so we have a lot of rich context of who you are as a person, the relationships you have, and the things you like from there, we create a profile of all your memories and display it as a social graph, so you see other people, places, and things in your life" "Another cool part is that we are building a narrator, which is like a GPT trained on your own personal context you could ask it things like, what is up with my situationship? And it could say something like, oh, you ghosted them two weeks ago. That’s why they’re being a dick to you" "It will help you unpack your story and continue writing your own. You can talk to it, and it will turn it all into memories, which you can then use to find other people with similar stories"

The Cap Table asks @rareZuhair about the history of doublespeedai being "Hacked". He clarifies how both incidents did not result in lose of data or important information, it was "only stale data" from "July of last year", which was inaccurate anyways. It was also explained how this incident actually boosted onboarding numbers since it made headlines and people were interested in reaching out.
