I have been trying to define this for a while. The trade off to the 10X AI Engineer. I have had conversation with people who have said "Soon it won't matter if the code is human readable."

AI is now shockingly good at creating full-stack *prototype* applications. They're by no means production-ready. Yes, you may be able to create a Reddit clone in four hours, but that doesn't mean you can operate it at Reddit scale.

In case you missed it, I wrote about how I think the software development profession will change in the face of AI over the next 5-10 years. * No more human coding * No more human code reviewing * Smaller teams * Model-targeted programming languages humanwhocodes.com/blog/2026/…

cc @geteslint @PrettierCode @PrettierESLint Attention!!! I was tricked by a phishing email and a new npm token was added and leaked then some popular packages I'm maintaining were released with malicious software, I've deleted the leaked token and marked all affected bad versions as deprecated and released new versions. All affected packages and versions are: - eslint-config-prettier - 8.10.1 - 9.1.1 - 10.1.6 - 10.1.7 - eslint-plugin-prettier: - 4.2.2 - 4.2.3 - snyckit: - 0.11.9 - @pkgr/core: - 0.2.8 - napi-postinstall: - 0.3.1 Thanks all, and sorry for my negligence.

i think this warrants a PSA, since vanishingly few people apparently know about it: google intends to remove alert/confirm/prompt from the web platform. personally i think this is a mistake: these are useful features that don't have a replacement. many sites would break.
wait really? alert() &c are very useful tools, not just in teaching (though definitely in teaching), but also in debugging (especially when you're not able to remotely inspect) and non-public-facing UI. how would they be removed in a non-breaking way?
